Installing SQL Server Business Intelligence Evolution Studio

• Howdy,

  I run into SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio as a circular icon with a ? inside it.

  I desire to Install this component.

  So i am following the steps as mentioned in the post @ http://forums.asp.net/t/1062316.aspx as mentioned below

  I managed to install the BIDS. I went to control panel--> add or remove programs ---> microsoft sql server 2005.
  Next, click on the change button.

  You will get a microsoft sql server 2005 maintenance dialog box.
  Under SQL server 2005 common components:
  choose workstation components and click NEXT.

  A installation magician volition pop upwards:
  (1) click Side by side,
  (two) click Next over again,
  (iii) Click change installed components,
  (4) And then i click on the icon on the left of CLIENT COMPONENTS and choose ENTIRE FEATURES Will BE INSTALLED ON LOCAL Difficult Drive,
  (v) click Adjacent

  But when i do the same, I encounter that Customer components is already installed and hence the setup process doesnt do anything. It finishes without doing any installation.

  Please advice me what do i demand to do hither????

  My SQL version is:  Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3054.00 (Intel X86) Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)

• It seems you accept non installed BIDS in your organization. Run the setup again and install BIDS.

  Insert SQL2k5 setup dvd
  browse to the directory X:\Tools\Setup and run vs_setup.msi to install the aforementioned

• Yes. clicking that will open up the VISUAL STUDIO application . (Yous tin also go through this Kickoff --> RUN --> Type in DEVENV)

  The installation sorcerer gives me message

  Micrsoft Visual Studio 2005 Premier Partner Edition - ENU has been successfully installed.
  Click Close to exit.

  How do i know if it is installed or not?? Plus i still see the BIDS icon as before (Circle with a ?)

  Do i have to reboot the server??

  Or practice i take to now navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio viii\Common7\IDE and execute devenv.exe???

  Is information technology rubber to practice this on production environs directly??
